The Artist

Built with the player, not just the sound.

Jacob Umansky — Intervals

We obsessed over UmanskyBass. Every string, every fret, multiple tunings, every articulation I actually use when I play. My engineer and I burned an extra studio day on the double-thumb / thumping side alone, just to get the dynamics sitting right.

Hearing it back in people's tracks, and seeing it turn up in live rigs already, is a bit surreal. One of my favourite things I've worked on.

Jacob Umansky Intervals

The Z3X represents the pinnacle of Dingwall basses — often selling for close to $10,000 USD. Modern progressive bass prodigy Jacob Umansky (Intervals) painstakingly sampled every nuance of his distinctive style on his famous black & white custom-shop Z3X. A fingerstyle library powered by truBass technology, loaded with the articulations needed to recreate immensely intricate bass lines — including thumping.

Tone Selector

Switch between the available tones — each fine-tuned by ear to represent the source artist's sound.

Fretboard

Every fret position across the strings is individually sampled. The interactive fretboard shows where your programmed notes are being played.

Articulation

Articulations switchable via keyswitches. The display shows which articulation is currently active.

Alternate Picking

Tempo-synced picking algorithm with a robust round robin. No repeated samples, no matter the speed.

DOOM

Collapses the round robin for maximum power and consistency. Less variation, more impact.

Humanize

Injects natural variation into playback for adjustable realism.

Position

Select where on the virtual fretboard each note is performed. Override the automatic position for total control.

Mixer

Drive, Tone, Compression and Girth controls let you perfectly match the bass to your music.

Settings

Rebind keyswitches, set the tuning of the bass, and adjust the pitch-bend range for total customization.

4 tailored tones.
Jacob's studio sounds.

UmanskyBass channels Jacob's distinctive sound as authentically as possible. Four tones heavily based on his studio rig with Intervals — from pristine DI to the iconic Z3X piano-esque clean tone, plus grittier textures for heavier passages.

DI

DI

The raw instrument. Shape it your way.

More

DI

The raw sound of the instrument, captured directly via high-end, studio-grade recording hardware. Process as you would any other bass for ultimate flexibility.

Clean

Clean

The iconic Z3X piano-esque tone.

More

Clean

The Jacob Umansky tone you know and love — from his playthroughs on Instagram and his work across assorted albums. The unmistakable Z3X piano-esque tone, with depth and clarity that you won't believe can coexist in a single voice.

Grit

Grit

Like Clean, but extra.

More

Grit

Maintains the distinctive spectral balance that defines Jacob's sound while increasing the gain range — so you can really make the bass spank.

Heavy

Heavy

Fuzzy, mid-heavy auxiliary tone.

More

Heavy

Based on Jacob's studio tones — this fuzzy, mid-heavy sound replicates an auxiliary tone Jacob uses to create interesting textures in certain parts of his music.

Engine

Built to feel real, not sampled.

Every SubMission Audio instrument is powered by truBass — our engine for dynamic, believable bass performances.

truBass Engine

Dynamic response that feels like an instrument, not a sample library. Velocity layers, round-robin, and string behaviour modelled from the source recording.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note at any speed. Every slide generated in real time — no pre-baked transitions.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin keeps fast passages from collapsing into repetition.

Free Kontakt Player

Runs in the industry-standard free Kontakt Player. No hidden costs, no extra purchases required.

truBass

The engine behind every SubMission Audio virtual instrument.

truBass is our proprietary sampling and scripting engine built specifically for bass instruments. It's why our basses respond like real instruments instead of static sample libraries — every note is shaped by the context around it.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note on the virtual fretboard, at any speed. No pre-baked transitions — every slide is generated in real time.

Multi-sampled Fretboard

Every fret position across the entire instrument has been individually sampled. Notes are performed where a real bassist would play them.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin. No repeated samples, no matter how fast you write.

Humanize

Subtle natural variation in timing, dynamics, and tone colour. Dial it up for organic feel, or turn it off for machine-tight precision.

DOOM Mode

Collapses the round robin to the most powerful samples. Less variation, more impact — for when every hit needs to land identically.

Position & Force String

Choose where on the fretboard each note is played, and lock notes to specific strings for total tonal control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I purchase?

This is a digital product — there's no physical item. After purchase, you'll receive an email with a serial number (usually instant). Redeem it with your free Native Access account to download and install.

Do I need to buy Kontakt?

No. UmanskyBass runs in the free Kontakt Player with no limitations. As an official Native Instruments partner, all SubMission Audio instruments are fully supported — no demo mode, no restrictions, no hidden costs.

How do I install this?

You can find our step-by-step installation guide here.

How many computers can I use this on?

One user, two machines. You may install on two devices (e.g. one laptop, one workstation), provided only one is in regular use. Simultaneous use on more than one device is not permitted.

How do I program slides?

Check out our in-depth guide for a full walkthrough.

Do I need iLok?

No. Licensing is handled through Native Access, which is completely free.

Is there a trial version?

Unfortunately, we're unable to offer a trial version at this time.

Can I use this as an amp on my own bass tracks?

No. This is a virtual instrument designed for use with MIDI. The built-in tones are specific to the sampled instrument and cannot be used to process your own audio.

How do I get help?

Our support team is standing by — contact us here. Please note that since Kontakt Player is developed by Native Instruments, we're unable to offer technical support for its operation.

Aaron Marshall

Jacob is tenacious and precise in his ability to hold down a strong foundation for the music I make. That was liberating for me on Circadian, even without a meticulously sampled robot version of him in plugin form — I suppose he is now an immortal asset, at your disposal, living inside your computer.

Pretty good

I think it’s pretty good for basic based stuff. I wish there was a play along button or you could play along with the song if you just dropped it in.
