The Artist

Built with the player, not just the sound.

Ali Dean — Architects

The attention to detail involved in recreating the sound of my bass has been outstanding, and we're incredibly proud of the final product. I'm confident ArchitectsBass will become an excellent addition to your writing process.

Ali Dean Architects

ArchitectsBass starts with Ali Dean's Dingwall Super-P, performed by Ali and developed with his involvement. The result is not a loose interpretation of the sound, but a virtual instrument grounded in the real bass, the real player, and the way that instrument is actually used.

ArchitectsBass interface

Tone Selector

Switch between DI, Clean, and Distortion tones. Each one fine-tuned by ear to represent Ali's sound over the years.

Fretboard

Every fret position across all four strings has been individually sampled. This interactive fretboard shows you where your programmed notes are being played.

Articulation

18 articulations switchable via keyswitches. The display shows which articulation is currently active.

Alternate Picking

Tempo-synced picking algorithm with deep round robin. No repeated samples, no matter the speed.

DOOM

Collapse the round robin for maximum power and consistency. Less variation, more impact.

Humanize

Adds subtle natural variation to each note for a more organic, human feel.

Position

Select where on the virtual fretboard each note is performed. Override the automatic position for total control.

Mixer

Adjust levels and tone parameters. Open the mixer to dial in exactly the sound you want.

Settings

Configure keyswitches, tuning, bend range, and other instrument preferences.

3 uncompromising tones.
No filler.

ArchitectsBass captures Ali Dean's Super-P with the weight, clarity, and modern edge that made it part of Architects' sound. Start clean, shape from DI, or push into distortion when the mix gets dense.

DI

DI

Pure capture. Shape it your way.

More

DI

The pure, unprocessed sound of Ali Dean's signature bass, captured through pristine, high-end studio equipment. Ideal for shaping your own tone with your go-to plugins, amps, or outboard gear, this DI offers unmatched clarity and precision. Customize the sound to sit perfectly in your mix, no matter the genre or style.

Clean

Clean

Natural resonance, smooth lows, clear top end.

More

Clean

A pristine, clean tone that brings out the natural resonance and warmth of Ali's bass. Designed for those moments when precision and definition are key, this tone delivers smooth lows and a sparkling top end, perfect for clean, atmospheric sections or dynamic arrangements where the bass needs to shine through without distortion.

Distortion

Distortion

Grit that keeps up with dense guitars and hard drums.

More

Distortion

For those seeking more grit, this tone delivers a searing distortion, ideal for keeping up with dense guitars and aggressive drums. Inspired by the brutal bass lines from Architects' heavier tracks, it offers a versatile overdrive that can be pushed to the limit, perfect for high-energy performances and recordings.

Engine

Built to feel real, not sampled.

Every SubMission Audio instrument is powered by truBass — our engine for dynamic, believable bass performances.

truBass Engine

Dynamic response that feels like an instrument, not a sample library. Velocity layers, round-robin, and string behaviour modelled from the source recording.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note at any speed. Every slide generated in real time — no pre-baked transitions.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin keeps fast passages from collapsing into repetition.

Free Kontakt Player

Runs in the industry-standard free Kontakt Player. No hidden costs, no extra purchases required.

truBass

The engine behind every SubMission Audio virtual instrument.

truBass is our proprietary sampling and scripting engine built specifically for bass instruments. It's why our basses respond like real instruments instead of static sample libraries — every note is shaped by the context around it.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note on the virtual fretboard, at any speed. No pre-baked transitions — every slide is generated in real time.

Multi-sampled Fretboard

Every fret position across the entire instrument has been individually sampled. Notes are performed where a real bassist would play them.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin. No repeated samples, no matter how fast you write.

Humanize

Subtle natural variation in timing, dynamics, and tone colour. Dial it up for organic feel, or turn it off for machine-tight precision.

DOOM Mode

Collapses the round robin to the most powerful samples. Less variation, more impact — for when every hit needs to land identically.

Position & Force String

Choose where on the fretboard each note is played, and lock notes to specific strings for total tonal control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I purchase?

This is a digital product — there's no physical item. After purchase, you'll receive an email with a serial number (usually instant). Redeem it with your free Native Access account to download and install.

Do I need to buy Kontakt?

No. ArchitectsBass runs in the free Kontakt Player with no limitations. As an official Native Instruments partner, all SubMission Audio instruments are fully supported — no demo mode, no restrictions, no hidden costs.

How do I install this?

You can find our step-by-step installation guide here.

How many computers can I use this on?

One user, two machines. You may install on two devices (e.g. one laptop, one workstation), provided only one is in regular use. Simultaneous use on more than one device is not permitted.

How do I program slides?

Check out our in-depth guide for a full walkthrough.

Do I need iLok?

No. Licensing is handled through Native Access, which is completely free.

Is there a trial version?

Unfortunately, we're unable to offer a trial version at this time.

Can I use this as an amp on my own bass tracks?

No. This is a virtual instrument designed for use with MIDI. The built-in tones are specific to the sampled instrument and cannot be used to process your own audio.

How do I get help?

Our support team is standing by — contact us here. Please note that since Kontakt Player is developed by Native Instruments, we're unable to offer technical support for its operation.

Great Sound

Always depends on the sound you are going for but I bought Djinnbass 2 which was a bit more upfront for my project. I found Architectsbass on the Easter Sale and worked out really well in my mix.

Architects Bass Normal Dude Review

I’m actually using Architects Bass plugin as I’m writing this…
I enjoy the simplicity of the plugin and ease of use. However I do wish that there was a little more flexibility to sculpt the tone.
Im not complaining just offering a suggestion.
For the money I think this is a great tool to have in any studio.

Finding Use for It

This plugin sounds decent enough. External processing is the way to go as IMO the built in “red channel” is just ok. Weird mid frequency seems to linger around no matter what I try which gets quite annoying. Probably would recommend a different library.

Plenty of versatile possibilities

If you are looking for a strong character – that's not the bass you should choose. Better EuroBass3 or DjinnBass2. But I love ArchitectsBass for it's versatile possibilities, that it opens, because of it's neutral sound. You can setup a wide range palette of sounds – from soft evening jazz, to bold and strong metal. LOVE IT.
