The Artist

Built with the player, not just the sound.

Matt Fackrell & Toby Peterson — The Omnific

Featuring a distinct and unparalleled sonic identity enhanced by precise performance intricacies, OmniBass effortlessly accommodates an abundance of techniques and genres, always ready to play.

Matt Fackrell & Toby Peterson The Omnific

OmniBass captures the Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo, the bass The Omnific built their sound around. Made famous by John Myung, the Bongo has the heft of dual humbuckers but stays low-end-first: round, warm, hi-fi, with mids that don't fight the rest of the mix. We sampled it with The Omnific in Australia, and it slots in everywhere we throw it — pop, punk, funk, prog, metal — anywhere the bass is doing real work under the track.

OmniBass interface

Tone Selector

Switch between the available tones — each fine-tuned by ear to represent the source artist's sound.

Fretboard

Every fret position across the strings is individually sampled. The interactive fretboard shows where your programmed notes are being played.

Articulation

Articulations switchable via keyswitches. The display shows which articulation is currently active.

Alternate Picking

Tempo-synced picking algorithm with a robust round robin. No repeated samples, no matter the speed.

DOOM

Collapses the round robin for maximum power and consistency. Less variation, more impact.

Humanize

Injects natural variation into playback for adjustable realism.

Position

Select where on the virtual fretboard each note is performed. Override the automatic position for total control.

Mixer

Drive, Tone, Compression and Girth controls let you perfectly match the bass to your music.

Settings

Rebind keyswitches, set the tuning of the bass, and adjust the pitch-bend range for total customization.

5 crafted tones.
A vast range of use cases.

OmniBass channels The Omnific's unique tones as authentically as possible. Five tones — DI, Clean, Grit, Distortion, Lead — cover everything from pop and funk through prog and metal.

DI

DI

The raw instrument. Shape it your way.

More

DI

The raw sound of the instrument, captured directly via high-end, studio-grade recording hardware. Process as you would any other bass. Ultimate flexibility; mix the bass on your own terms.

Clean

Clean

The sound of early The Omnific records.

More

Clean

A pure tone, beautifully rendering the round, throaty midrange punch of the Bongo — the sound of early The Omnific records.

Grit

Grit

Modern prog spank in the upper mids.

More

Grit

Like Clean, but extra. A bit more spank to the upper mids, injecting modern prog flavour into the tone.

Distortion

Distortion

For when the vibe shifts from prog to metal.

More

Distortion

An extra gain stage on Grit — DIST is for when your sensibilities are a little less prog and a bit more metal. Really riles up the midrange to merge with distorted guitars.

Lead

Lead

A pristine clean tone for lead playing.

More

Lead

A pristine clean tone crafted purposefully for lead playing passages — when the bass needs to step forward.

Engine

Built to feel real, not sampled.

Every SubMission Audio instrument is powered by truBass — our engine for dynamic, believable bass performances.

truBass Engine

Dynamic response that feels like an instrument, not a sample library. Velocity layers, round-robin, and string behaviour modelled from the source recording.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note at any speed. Every slide generated in real time — no pre-baked transitions.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin keeps fast passages from collapsing into repetition.

Free Kontakt Player

Runs in the industry-standard free Kontakt Player. No hidden costs, no extra purchases required.

truBass

The engine behind every SubMission Audio virtual instrument.

truBass is our proprietary sampling and scripting engine built specifically for bass instruments. It's why our basses respond like real instruments instead of static sample libraries — every note is shaped by the context around it.

truSlides

Slide from any note to any other note on the virtual fretboard, at any speed. No pre-baked transitions — every slide is generated in real time.

Multi-sampled Fretboard

Every fret position across the entire instrument has been individually sampled. Notes are performed where a real bassist would play them.

Intelligent Picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin. No repeated samples, no matter how fast you write.

Humanize

Subtle natural variation in timing, dynamics, and tone colour. Dial it up for organic feel, or turn it off for machine-tight precision.

DOOM Mode

Collapses the round robin to the most powerful samples. Less variation, more impact — for when every hit needs to land identically.

Position & Force String

Choose where on the fretboard each note is played, and lock notes to specific strings for total tonal control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I purchase?

This is a digital product — there's no physical item. After purchase, you'll receive an email with a serial number (usually instant). Redeem it with your free Native Access account to download and install.

Do I need to buy Kontakt?

No. OmniBass runs in the free Kontakt Player with no limitations. As an official Native Instruments partner, all SubMission Audio instruments are fully supported — no demo mode, no restrictions, no hidden costs.

How do I install this?

You can find our step-by-step installation guide here.

How many computers can I use this on?

One user, two machines. You may install on two devices (e.g. one laptop, one workstation), provided only one is in regular use. Simultaneous use on more than one device is not permitted.

How do I program slides?

Check out our in-depth guide for a full walkthrough.

Do I need iLok?

No. Licensing is handled through Native Access, which is completely free.

Is there a trial version?

Unfortunately, we're unable to offer a trial version at this time.

Can I use this as an amp on my own bass tracks?

No. This is a virtual instrument designed for use with MIDI. The built-in tones are specific to the sampled instrument and cannot be used to process your own audio.

How do I get help?

Our support team is standing by — contact us here. Please note that since Kontakt Player is developed by Native Instruments, we're unable to offer technical support for its operation.

Go-to instrument for writing demos and mixing

This thing is so realistic when programmed carefully, but even on default settings can help a demo or even a mix sound cleaner and more crisp in the low end. Love it.

Great Sound, Almost Real

OmniBass sounds really good and covers a ton of tones, so it works great whether you’re doing rock, metal, or more mellow stuff. The presets are solid and you can get mix-ready bass pretty fast, which is awesome. The only downside is that, like most virtual basses, it still doesn’t totally feel like a real player every time.

Spectacular as both a Bass VST or Video Game sound design tool

I love The Omnific. And this Bass VST captures their unique sound flawlessly. I've already used it for a potential game soundtrack
