Nick Schendzielos
Nick "Shinz" Schendzielos plays bass for Job for a Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage, Havok, and Nuclear Power Trio. His parts combine slap, tapping, chords, double-thumb, and aggressive fingerstyle at extreme-metal tempos.
ShinzBass samples Nick Schendzielos's Warwick Dolphin five-string. Three tones cover his sounds with Job for a Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage, and Havok across rock, pop, funk, and technical death metal.

Use keyswitches to change articulation. The display shows the active articulation.
Alternate Picking
Tempo-synced picking algorithm with a robust round robin. No repeated samples, no matter the speed.
DOOM
DOOM Mode limits playback to a smaller set of high-impact samples for a more consistent attack.
Humanize
Adds adjustable variation between notes so repeated parts sound less mechanical.

Choose the fretboard position for each note, or let the engine choose automatically.

3 signature tones.
From Yin to Yang.
Three tones cover Nick's recorded sounds: Yin for DI, Ram's Head for his Job for a Cowboy chain, and Yang for driven rock.
Yin
The raw instrument. Shape it your way.
Yin
Yin is the raw instrument recorded direct through studio-grade hardware. Use it with your own processing.
Ram's Head
Jason Suecof's chain from 'Moon Healer'.
Ram's Head
Recreates Jason Suecof's exact processing chain from Job For A Cowboy's 'Moon Healer' album. Think of this as a hot-rodded DI, expertly moulded by a legendary producer to sit between drums and guitars.
Yang
Classic grit that can push into distortion.
Yang
A grit tone based on Nick's work with Havok. Increase Drive to push it into distortion.
Sampled with fresh strings for a bright, consistent tone with no wear.
Engine
Built for playable bass parts.
truBass powers every Submission Audio bass with fretboard mapping, round robins, real-time slides, and Humanize.
truBass Engine
Velocity layers, round robins, and string-aware playback change how each note responds.
truSlides
Slide between any two notes at any speed. truSlides generates each transition in real time instead of playing a fixed recording.
Intelligent picking
Tempo-synced alternate picking rotates through recorded samples so fast passages do not repeat the same attack.
Free Kontakt Player
Runs in the free Kontakt Player. You do not need to buy Kontakt.
truBass
Fretboard mapping, alternate picking, slides, and Humanize in one engine.
truBass maps recorded notes and articulations across a playable fretboard. Velocity layers, round robins, and position mapping vary playback between notes.
truSlides
Slide between any two notes at any speed. truSlides generates the transition in real time instead of playing a fixed recording.
Multi-sampled fretboard
Every fret position across the entire instrument has been individually sampled. Notes are performed where a real bassist would play them.
Intelligent picking
Tempo-synced alternate picking with deep round robin. No repeated samples, no matter how fast you write.
Humanize
Humanize varies timing, dynamics, and tone. Increase it to reduce repetition, or turn it off for exact playback.
DOOM mode
DOOM mode limits playback to a smaller set of high-impact samples. Use it when every note needs the same attack.
Position and force string
Choose each note's fretboard position and lock notes to specific strings.

For someone that can't really play bass but wants realistic, modern sounding low end in their tracks without having to do much tweaking, this plugin is a game changer. The sheer variety of articulations within ShinzBass means I can live out my 80's style wannabe fusion dreams all in the MIDI grid.

I originally treated writing bass parts as an afterthought and found it to be a chore — with ShinzBass, composing bass parts is now genuinely the most exciting instrument to write. Super intuitive and easy to use.
Customer reviews
What customers say.
Overall, the tone is snappy and aggressive. Plenty of options for key switching and humanizing. 10/10
Sits just right, with minimal tweaking. People don't realize, you don't WANT a ton of low end dragging down your mix and taking energy out of the guitars . Shinz gets it right; it occupies a niche and doesn't encroach on other instruments, thus saving headroom. Bravo! And the interface is sick.
Super life like, great articulation and perfect tuning. Plays the right notes every time, and with the right feel. What more could you want?
Probably best finger style library to date. I prefer this over Grove bass, which is also sick, but the articulations and tone of this library are more versatile. I really don’t have complaints, but if I’m being picky, there could be more midrange left in the DI. Easily adjusted with amp settings. Highly recommend for the most realistic proggy bass tones.
Hi! i really like how a ShinzBass sit in the mix! It's sound just right! Thanks a lot for this instrument!
So many articulations to choose from, love the tapping especially. This is an incredibly versatile instrument!
