The Artist

We sampled the player, too.

Matt Fackrell & Toby Peterson, The Omnific

Featuring a distinct and unparalleled sonic identity enhanced by precise performance intricacies, OmniBass effortlessly accommodates an abundance of techniques and genres, always ready to play.

Matt Fackrell & Toby Peterson The Omnific

OmniBass captures the Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo that The Omnific built their sound around. Its dual humbuckers stay round and warm without pushing the mids over the rest of the mix. We sampled it with The Omnific in Australia for pop, punk, funk, prog, and metal.

OmniBass interface

Tone Selector

Switch between tones matched by ear to the artist's rig.

Fretboard

We sampled every fret on every string. The interface shows where the engine plays each MIDI note.

Articulation

Use keyswitches to change articulation. The display shows the active articulation.

Alternate Picking

Tempo-synced picking algorithm with a robust round robin. No repeated samples, no matter the speed.

DOOM

DOOM Mode limits playback to a smaller set of high-impact samples for a more consistent attack.

Humanize

Adds adjustable variation between notes so repeated parts sound less mechanical.

Position

Choose the fretboard position for each note, or let the engine choose automatically.

Mixer

Use Drive, Tone, Compression, and Girth to fit the bass into your mix.

Settings

Set the keyswitches, bass tuning, and pitch-bend range.

5 crafted tones.
A vast range of use cases.

Five tones follow The Omnific's studio rigs: DI, Clean, Grit, Distortion, and Lead. They cover pop, funk, prog, and metal.

DI

DI

The raw instrument. Shape it your way.

More

DI

The raw instrument recorded direct through studio-grade hardware. Use it with your own plugins, pedals, or amps.

Clean

Clean

The sound of early The Omnific records.

More

Clean

A clean tone with the Bongo's round, throaty midrange, based on early The Omnific records.

Grit

Grit

Modern prog spank in the upper mids.

More

Grit

Like Clean, but extra. A bit more spank to the upper mids, injecting modern prog flavour into the tone.

Distortion

Distortion

For when the vibe shifts from prog to metal.

More

Distortion

DIST adds a gain stage above Grit and pushes the midrange into distorted guitars.

Lead

Lead

A pristine clean tone for lead playing.

More

Lead

A clean tone for lead bass passages where each note needs to step forward.

Engine

Built for playable bass parts.

truBass powers every Submission Audio bass with fretboard mapping, round robins, real-time slides, and Humanize.

truBass Engine

Velocity layers, round robins, and string-aware playback change how each note responds.

truSlides

Slide between any two notes at any speed. truSlides generates each transition in real time instead of playing a fixed recording.

Intelligent picking

Tempo-synced alternate picking rotates through recorded samples so fast passages do not repeat the same attack.

Go-to instrument for writing demos and mixing

This thing is so realistic when programmed carefully, but even on default settings can help a demo or even a mix sound cleaner and more crisp in the low end. Love it.

Great Sound, Almost Real

OmniBass sounds really good and covers a ton of tones, so it works great whether you’re doing rock, metal, or more mellow stuff. The presets are solid and you can get mix-ready bass pretty fast, which is awesome. The only downside is that, like most virtual basses, it still doesn’t totally feel like a real player every time.
